i got it and it is sublime

Stacy at Mama-Om has this brilliant feature each week that I really need to get my groove around. Starting today, ready set go.

Tonight we had our Senior Banquet, a celebration for the graduates and their families. One of my fellow teachers listed cool things about each kid, and I read an Emerson poem. One student sang a song he wrote about our school, and another treated us to "In My Life" accompanied by a gracious young man on guitar, who ably kept the tune when she briefly forgot the lyrics. We watched a slideshow of the school year. We remembered students who are not with us for graduation, because of boot camp and because things seemed too hard.

I am grateful for my job, where I get to shape & impact the future everyday. And eat chocolate at will.

I am grateful for my principal, who trusts me to do the right things even when it's difficult and I'm grouchy.

I am grateful for my colleagues, who support me with pats on the back or kicks in the butt as necessary and appropriate.

I am grateful for my students, even the pains in the ass challenging individuals whom I pray for without ceasing.

I am grateful for my family, my husband and children, who appreciate when I get nutty and stay clear of me for a bit. Then bring me chocolate.

Go forth and have gratitude. It feels magnificent.
