I will be participating in a walk for the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on October 11. A student at my school has organized our team in honor of her friend
who took his life last year. It will always be difficult to manage our thoughts & reactions to his decision but remembering his disarming smile and many gifts is simple, and doing whatever we can to prevent another loss to another family is the easiest thing.
I hope you can spare a moment to visit the
AFSP site for more information and if you can
spare a donation for our team, we Renegades - and future renegades - will be most grateful.
You know about my
utter disdain repulsive reactions feelings toward exercise. But for kids, I will race the sun & wind.

piece of advice: leave the toddlers at home that day. yes i know yours aren't toddlers any more but if you *see* any toddlers that day...leave them be.
great cause - temporary problems, permanent solutions - those are some terrible combinations.
this type tragedy touches - but we do our best when we honor the good that person has offered this world.
Race the Wind and the Sun!
Good for you. It's important to take some action when you're trying to make sense of that which makes no sense.
Good cause, and impressive that your student took action in such a positive way against something so horrible.
My best friend's sister committed suicide last year, and its impact of family and friends is so heartbreaking.
Keep racing!
What a fantastic cause.
It is so impressive that you have a student who would organize this, and really impressive that you are supporting that student in both word and deed.
You rock.
very very cool.
