just what we all need

This afternoon, I let the defrosting hamburger get too sizzly in the microwave and made grumbling sounds about it. Mason was sitting at the kitchen counter and asked "What's wrong?" I explained the problem but mentioned it was going to be okay, not a tragedy. He made a wah-wah-wah-wahhhh sound that made me chuckle; it was exactly what you hear when someone loses on a game show. Then he said, in complete 8-year-old seriousness, "I wish I had a trombone so I could walk around and do that - wah-wah-wah-wahhhh - whenever something went wrong for people."

Brilliant. I think it would make all of our mistakes much more palatable.
